At Mid-Hudson Veterinary Practice we strive to provide a wide range of effective therapies to treat your horse on the farm. We are proud to announce that we offer two therapeutic services to treat musckuloskeletal conditions: extracorporeal shockwave therapy and mesotherapy.

Mesotherapy involves multiple intradermal injections (within the skin layers) using a series of very small needles and is mainly used to treat back and neck pain. When a horse experiences back pain for any reason, whether from muscle spasms, kissing spines, arthritis or secondarily to hindlimb irregularity (or lameness) or even previous poor saddle fit, the muscles along either side of the spine become tense and sore. The combination of medications used in mesotherapy - including a combination of allopathic and homeopathic  medicine – interferes with  nerve pathways, reducing pain sensation and allowing the back muscles to relax.  The back muscles can then regain strength, develop and become protective against possible re-injuries. Mesthotherapy can be used in combination with other therapies such as EWST or steroid injections to treat kissing spines or arthritic articular processes.
